KABUL):  An unmanned aerial vehicle of international troops crashed in the southern province of Ghazni, the multinational alliance said on Monday.

The incident happened late on Sunday due to a mechanical malfunction of the aircraft, which went down in the Gilan district, said the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

A statement from the NATO-led force said: “There was no report of enemy activity in the area.  The UAV was recovered without incident (clash) and no civilian casualties or damage were reported.”

However, a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the fighters had shot down the spy plane, whose wreckage was still with militants.
