MAIMANA (PAN): A civilian and an intelligence operative were killed after security forces attacked a house in pursuit of militants in Maimana, the capital of northern Faryab province, officials said on Saturday.
The clash erupted late on Friday night between Afghan security force and the Taliban) official said.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News that a civilian and an NDS employee were killed, and three policemen wounded in the clash that was still ongoing.
Deputy police chief Col. Bashir Baryalai Parwani said the compound belonged to a Taliban commander, Qari Fazal.
The commander spearheads disruptive activities against security forces, he said, adding two Taliban fighters were also injured in the gun-battle.
Two people injured in the crossfire were taken to Faryab Civil Hospital, confirmed Dr. Abdul Ali Haleem, a doctor at the facility.
