GHAZNI CITY (PAN): Raising slogans in favour of their demands, hundreds of university students on Sunday marched in the streets of Ghazni city, the capital of southern Ghazni province.

Students of two universities jointly staged the rally by blocking the Kabul-Kandahar highway traffic flow for hours.

Their demands included the removal of education faculties heads, banishing corruption from their institutes, ending prejudice against Pakhtun students and ensuring good behavior with them.

A third year student of the education faculty, Obaidullah, a participant in the rally, told Pajhwok Afghan News their faculty head was a problematic person.

He accused the head of being biased toward Pashto faculty students and depriving them of scholarships. He asked the Ministry of Higher Education to replace him with a patriotic person.

A second year student of the agriculture faculty, Noorullah, also accused their faculty head of creating problems for students. Nearly 300 students took part in the rally and chanted slogans against the administration of their universities.

The Governor’s House later sent a delegation for talks with the protestors, but the students refused to hold talks with the officials. But later a five-member delegation of the student went to the governor’s house for talks with the governor Musa Khan Akbarzada.

The governor assured the students of considering their demands in his talks with education officials.
