PUL-I-ALM (PAN): Two teenagers were killed in a roadside bombing in central Logar province on Wednesday, security officials said, but locals claimed they were killed in firing by security men.
The early morning incident occurred in the Dobandi area of Khoshi district, Col. Raees Khan, the deputy police chief said. He told Pajhwok Afghan News the youth were killed in a Taliban-planted roadside bomb blast.
However, residents say the two were killed when Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers opened fire at them.
Haji Ibrahim, a tribal elder in the area, said the victims, aged between 15 to 16 years, were grazing their cattle in the area when they were shot dead by ANA soldiers.
The district chief Bismillah Khoshiwal rejected residents’ claim as baseless, saying it was bomb blast that killed the two.
Meanwhile, Gen. Abdul Razaq Safi, the 203th Thunder Military Corps fourth brigade commander, said the teens were planting a roadside bomb that went off prematurely, killing them on the spot.
