FARAH CITY (PAN): Security personnel nabbed a would-be motorcycle suicide bomber in the western province of Farah, officials said Monday.

The bomber from Khak Safed district was captured late on Sunday evening with an explosives-laden motorcycle in Farah City, the governor’s spokesman said.

Naqibullah Farahi told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainee was planning a suicide attack in the 3rd police district of the provincial capital.

“A day earlier, we received a report that a suicide bomber has entered the city, so police were searching for him and finally caught him,” said deputy police chief Mohammad Ghaus Malyar.

Meanwhile, 600 bottles of foreign-made alcohol, 100 litres of banned beverages made in Afghanistan, heroin and pistols were unearthed in the 3rd police district, added Malyar. Suspected traffickers had hidden the drugs and arms in a depot, but no one has been detained so far.
