ASADABAD (PAN): Up to 67 uplift projects have been executed under the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) in the eastern province of Kunar, officials said on Friday.
More than 16,000 families in 13 districts of the province would benefit from the projects costing $1.7 million (more than 85 million afghanis), the NSP provincial head said.
Eng. Mir Zaman Momand told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects included water heads, retaining walls, wells, water supply pipelines, street construction, micro hydroelectric power units, a Karez system and roads.
Of the 1,891 projects approved by NSP for Kunar province, 1,339 had been completed and the rest were underway, he added.
The schemes were executed as a result of people’s cooperation, Governor Syed Fazlullah Wahidi told the inauguration ceremony.
