KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): A woman was killed and three men, along with a child, were wound when the vehicle they were travelling in hit an improvised explosive device (IED) in Marjah district of southern Helmand province on Wednesday morning.

The blast happened at about 6 am in the Sistani area, the governor's house said, adding the injured were in serious condition. Security forces evacuated the victims to Lashkargah’s emergency hospital.

In western Farah province, the Balabaluck district prosecutor was found dead in a graveyard. Mohammad Musa was abducted along with two sons from his house in the Ganjabad village of the district four days ago, police spokesman Abdul Rahman Zhwandai told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The prosecutor’s body was recovered in the Dehzak area but no one has so far claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and murder. His two sons were released earlier, he added.

In the same province, two drug traffickers were killed and three others escaped when their car turned turtle in Bakwa district. Police discovered 200 kilogrammes of opium from the vehicle.

In central Maidan Wardak, five Talibaninfo-icon fighters including their commander were killed during overnight security operations by Afghan and International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) troops in Baba Kala and Sanokhel villages of Chak district, said the governor’s spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid.

The slain commander was identified as Mohammad Nasim, while the other dead fighters were Hasibullah, Ibrahim, Tamim and Zubair -- all involved in various disruptive activities, he added.

Shahid said the operations against insurgents were still in progress.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a resident said the bodies of the Taliban fighters remained at the scene while the village was ringed by coalition forces.
