3 dead in Khyber roadside blast

ISLAMABAD (PAN’s restive northwestern tribal region of Khyber on Friday, a political administration official said.

Five civilians were also wounded in the bombing that took place in the Akakhel area of Bara sub-district at 11.45am, the official said on condition of anonymity.

He added full details of the incident were yet to emerge, because of the remote location of the area — infested with several militant groups, including Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, Lashkar-i-Islam and Ansarul Islam.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion, but officials often blame the three outfits for attacks on law-enforcement personnel and civilians in the region, bordering eastern Afghanistan.
