A joint force found and defused four IEDs — two in Ghazni City, one in Khwaja Omari district and one in Gilan, a statement from the Bagram Airbase. One insurgent, detained during an engagement in Andar district, was transferred to a base for questioning.

Elsewhere in Ghazni, Afghan Uniformed Police and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache, containing items used to create improvised explosive devices, in Aab Band district.

In the east, Afghan soldiers and coalition forces killed one fighter in the Pech Dara district of Kunar province. In neighbouring Nangarhar, two IEDs were cleared in Lalpura district, one in Chaparhar and one in Achin.

A combined force killed one fighter during an engagement in the Orgun district of southeastern Paktika province, the statement added. Another two rebels were killed in the Syedabad district of Maidan Wardak province.
