Officials detained on bribery charges

HEART CITY (PAN): Intelligence officials arrested three senior officials and a lawyer of Injeel district in western Herat province on charges of accepting bribes, authorities said on Friday.

Herat’s urban attorney office head Gul Ahmad Ramesh told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees belonged to the district prosecutor’s office, finance and land departments.

The four were part of a delegation created by a court to retake grabbed land measuring 1.5 acre. But the individuals allegedly sought bribes from one of the parties, Ramish said.

Intelligence officials arrested them while accepting id=”mce_marker”0,000 in bribes, he said, but stopped short of giving further details.

Earlier this year, a police officer was arrested for taking bribes from a non-governmental organisation in Herat City.
