7 suspected rebels detained in Kandahar: NDS

KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Seven armed insurgents, including a Pakistani citizen, were detained during separate operations in southern Kandahar province, the intelligence service said on Sunday.

The individuals were involved in anti-government activities including roadside bomb attacks and killing people, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement.

It identified the detainees as Hidayatullah, Bari Dad, Mohammad Hassan, Rafiullah, Mohammad Azim and Rahmatullah.

It identified the Pakistani as Abdul Ghafar, a resident of Zangal area of Balochistan province. Ghafar had come to Kandahar for insurgent activities, it said.  

Some explosives, four hand grenades, two pistols, a mortar shell and a Kalashnikovs were seized from the detainees.
