MAIDAN SHAHR (PAN): Work on four development projects was launched in central Maidan Wardak province on Thursday, an senior official said.
The projects include construction of buildings for a polyclinic, a central statistics department, provincial secretariat and a recreational park, the governor said.
Mohammad Halim Fidae told Pajhwok during the foundation stone-laying ceremony the projects would provide an enabling work environment for government employees.
They would also help in terms of faster delivery of services to residents, the governor said, asking the construction companies to ensure quality.
Costing $210,000 (10.7 million afghanis), the Turkish-funded polyclinic building would take six months to complete, Fidae said. The single-storey structure will have eight rooms, toilets, halls and kitchens.
The building for the statistics department, with nine rooms, toilets, kitchens and halls, would cost 3.5 million afghanis. Fidae said the park, which would have a football ground, would be constructed by the Roshan Telecommunication Company in three months.
Another building for provincial employees will be constructed in six months. The projects will create work opportunities for about one hundred area youths.
