Foreign engineer shot injured in Paktia

GARDEZ (PAN): A security guard shot injured a foreign engineer in the Shawak district of southeastern Paktia province on Thursday, an official said.

Deputy police chief Col. Mohammad Zaman told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place at the Shawak base. The engineer worked for a road construction company, he said.  

Without revealing the victim’s nationality, the police official said the engineer was slightly injured as a result of the fire. The incident is being investigated to determine the cause, he said.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said six foreign soldiers were shot dead by a security guard with a road construction company in the area. The killer managed to flee and had joined the Taliban, he said.
