KABUL tribesmen on Sunday staged a protest rally in the Bagrami district of central Kabul province against what they said ignoring their demands by the government.
About 250 people blocked the Bagrami-Kabul road from 9am until 3pm. The road links Rahman Mina with Ahmad Shah Baba Mina.
The protestors claimed the Ministry of Power and Energy had been unable so far to resolve their problems with regard to electricity.
Governor’s spokesman Wasiullah Miakhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the power ministry had promised residents of the town that their problems would be addressed.
Protestors said the ministry had failed to meet their demand despite of the passage of two years.
Governor Ahmadullah Alizai, accompanied by senior security officials and Sher Ali Ahmadzai, who represents Kochi tribe in Wolesi Jirga, promised protestors initiating efforts at meeting their genuine demands.
