KABUL), the spy service, on Monday said it had evolved a new mechanism for people visiting the detainees in its custody.
The intelligence department asked human rights organisations to help ensure that Afghanistan’s laws were not breached and all legal requirements met when they visited the accused.
In a statement, the NDS promised it would respect laws and the international conventions on human rights Afghanistan had endorsed.
“The NDS welcomes human rights bodies to assess the condition of any detainee held by the intelligence department, which will extend all-out cooperation to the organisations,” the statement said.
It added the NDS once again renewed its commitments to respecting human rights, ensuring human dignity and rights of the accused.
