Suicide bomber among 3 held in Parwan

CHARIKAR):  Intelligence agents on Wednesday evening detained three militants planning to carry out a suicide attack on the Bagram air base, a local official of the National Directorate of Security said Thursday.

The three militants, including a 25-year-old would-be suicide bomber with an explosives vest, were arrested in the Qalacha-I Sokhta area of Bagram District, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The would-be suicide bomber hailed from Balkh province, the official said, adding that the two others are from Parwan province.  The three planned to carry out an attack on Afghan and foreign forces at the Bagram military base. 

According to NDS, up to 96 people have been arrested on charges of anti government  militant activities over the past six months in the province.
