KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Three insurgents planning suicide attacks have been killed in a joint Afghan-NATOinfo-icon military operation in the central province of Maidan Wardak, an official said on Saturday.

Shahidullah Shahid, a spokesman for the Maidan Wardak governor, said five other militants insurgents -- Habibur Rahman, Syed Rahman, Irfan, Nasim and Salahuddin -- were arrested during the operation in the Mula area of Jaghatu district on Friday.

In a statement, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said its troops had killed a Talibaninfo-icon commander, Asad, who was accused of killing the Chak district's administrative chief.

The district chief was killed along with his son in front of the district headquarters about two months ago.
