ASADABAD (PAN): A recently-constructed building for a girls’ high school was inaugurated in the eastern province of Kunar on Thursday, officials said.
The school has been constructed at a cost of 8 million afghanis provided by the Indian government in the Spin Jumat area of Khas Kunar district.
Governor Syed Fazlullah Wahidi told Pajhwok Afghan News the building would resolve the space problem for nearly 900 students, who were previously studying in a rented house.
Education Director Syed Jamaluddin Hussaini said the school had 10 classrooms and four administrative rooms.
There are 470 schools in the province, but more than half of them do not have proper buildings. A total of 178,000 students, including 60,000, girls are enrolled in schools across the province.
