Foreign troop pullout to bring stability: Karzai

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday said foreign forces’ withdrawal, scheduled before the end of 2014, would bring stability to Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Karzai told a group of university presidents and professors that the the country was headed toward development and stability and that the departure of NATOinfo-icon-led forces would have no negative impact, .

“On the contrary, it will lead to stability,” Karzai said, according to a statement from the Presidential Palace.

It is his administration’s constitutional duty to ensure the 2014 presidential ballot is held on schedule and in a free, fair, inclusive and transparent manner, he said.

Karzai asked the university professors to give their views and suggestions on holding the elections successfully, the statement said.
