Colombo Plan-funded training centre for ex-drug users

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): A vocational training centre costing $330,000, funded by the Colombo Plan, was established to provide training for former drug users in the capital Kabul.

A Public Healthinfo-icon Ministry official Dr. Fawad Osmani said some 500 ex-narcotic dependents would be trained in carpentry, tailoring, tiles making and carpet weaving in the centre for duration of six months.

The seventh training centre would be located at the Ministry of Martyrs, Disabled, Labours and Social Affairs near Shah Du Shamshera mosqueinfo-icon in Kabul, said Osmani.

He said there were six similar training centres in Kabul and 53 such outfits across the country.

Colombo Plan, a regional organisation established in 1950, promotes development and social programmes in developing countries.
