Kandahar tribal elder brutally beaten, killed

KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): A tribal elder Kaka Jan who was abducted by militants in Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province on Wednesday was found murdered in a locked room, officials said on Thursday.

“Militants kidnapped the victim from Sperwan area of the district and his dead body was recovered on Thursday in village house,” district chief Hajji Fazal Ahmad Ishaaqzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Ishaaqzai said the militants had beaten up Jan before murdering him.  

Police are yet to detain any one in connection with the elder’s murder but had launched a probe into the crime, said Javed Faisal, the governor’s spokesman.
