KANDAHAR CITY (PAN militants poisoned to death six local policemen in the southern province of Kandahar.

The governor’s spokesman Sharifullah Nasri told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Taliban fighters poisoned the policemen at a checkpoint in Jamalkhel village in Shah Joy district on Wednesday night.

After killing the policemen they escaped with their weapons, he added.

Initial investigations revealed that the policemen were first poisoned and later killed by the militants, said Nasri.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed their fighters killed six policemen and two villagers who were the policemen’s guests.
