KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Friday expressed his sympathy to victims affected by the powerful Sandy storm in the United States that had claimed more than 90 lives, a Presidential Palace statement said.
“Karzai expressed his sympathy and offered his deep condolences on behalf of all Afghans,” added the statement.
The storm battered the east coast of the US, causing major floods, uprooting houses and disrupted power transmission and transportation networks in major American cities.
President Barack Obama had declared it as a “major disaster” in New York.
The natural calamity is happening just days before millions of Americans cast their votes to elect the 45th US president on 6th November.
