17 wedding guests killed in roadside bombing

17 wedding guests killed in roadside bombing

Nov 16, 2012 - 17:35

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Seventeen civilians were killed and six others wounded in a roadside bombing in western Farah province on Friday, officials said.

The civilian casualties occurred at 2.30pm when the van carrying them struck a roadside bomb in Pushtrod district, Governor Akram Khpalwak told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He blamed the “enemies of peace” -- a euphemism that Afghan officials frequently use for the Talibaninfo-icon -- for planting roadside bombs, which often kill ordinary citizens.

Abdur Rahman Zhwandai, the governor’s spokesman, said all dead and injured were wedding guests, who were coming from Khak-i-Safaid district to Pushtrod.

Two days before the Eidul Adha festival, 19 wedding guests were killed in a similar incident in northern Balkh province.
