KABUL reiterated their support to the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process to ensure the troubled nation stabilize quickly after a prolong war.
The support of neighbouring Pakistan and China, the regional economic powerhouse, emerged at the second Pakistan-Afghanistan-China Trilateral Dialogue held on 29th November in Islamabad.
“The three countries agreed that an intra-Afghan inclusive dialogue would ensure durable peace and stability in Afghanistan,” said a joint statement released after the meeting.
“At the meeting, the three countries agreed that close and consistent cooperation among regional countries was essential to overcome the trends of violence and they reiterated their commitment to cooperate in fight against terrorism, extremism and separatism,” added the statement.
Leaders also highlighted the importance of counter-narcotics campaign especially due to the nexus between terrorism and drug money.
“They agreed the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) can play an important role in peace and stability in the region and the SCO regional mechanism can provide better solutions to the emerging new security, political and economic challenges,” said the statement.
The participants accepted the offer of the Afghan delegation to host the next meeting in Kabul.
The date will be communicated through diplomatic channels.
