MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Six youth who were heading to a wedding party were killed after their car they were travelling in plunged into a river in the northern province of Balkh, officials said on Saturday.
The tragic mishap took place on Friday evening, killing six youths in Samarqnadyan area of Balkh district. The victims were on their way to attend a wedding party, Balkh district chief, Timor Shah Faiz told Pajhwok Afghan News.
An injured passenger was rescued from the river and rushed to the district hospital, he said.
Five dead bodies and two wounded people were brought to the district clinic and one of the injured succumbed to his injuries, said Mohammad Sardar, a doctor on duty at the Balkh hospital.
