KABUL Abdul Zahir Qadir apologised after his guards assaulted a policeman during a bomb blast last month.
Qadir’s guards beat the policeman after a suicide bombing incident, on 21st Nov this year in Wazir Akbar Khan area of 10th police district, when the victim was asking the public to disperse from the scene.
The Ministry of Interior launched a probe and detained the guards after pictures of the incident surfaced on the facebook and media.
Qadir along with some other lawmakers visited the headquarters of the 10th police district on Friday and apologised over the bad behavior of his guards, said a ministry statement.
He promised such acts would not happen in the future. The guards were released after Qadir apologised, added the statement.
However, crime branch chief of 101st Asmaee police zone Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zahir told a press conference on Saturday that they would still investigate the incident and refer the case to the judicial department despite Qadir’s apology.
He said policemen and officers present during the assault of their colleague should also be brought to justice for not stopping the guards, he added.
