WASHINGTON (PAN): The White House on Thursday said the Obama Administration is working with President Hamid Karzai’s government to address corruption in the country.
“The issue of corruption is one of concern and has been in Afghanistan,” the White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters at his daily news conference.
The United States shares the concerns of Karzai on this issue, Carney said.
“We work with the government of Afghanistan on this issue regularly. But I don’t know how to make the comparison of where it is now compared to where it was,” he said.
“We know it’s a problem and has been a problem, and we continue to work with the government on that problem,” Carney said in response to a question.
