KUNDUZ CITY (PANinfo-icon): Two militant commanders were killed during a joint operation by the International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) and Afghan forces in the Dasht-i-Archi district of northern Kunduz province, an official said on Saturday.

A third militant commander was wounded while a fourth was arrested in the operation conducted after people complained about robbery by members of the group in the region, the police spokesman, Syed Sarwar Husaini, said.

The operation have cleared the area out of robbers who menaced people traveling along roads through the region, a shopkeeper at the district centre, Zai-ur-Rahman, said.

“I was personally twice beaten up by robbers who stole my mobile and money,” he said.

Police have established five checkpoints along the roads in the district in order to prevent militants and robbers from harassing people Husaini said.
