Abducted US doctor rescued from Taliban militants

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): An American citizen Dr. Dilip Joseph who was abducted by the Talibaninfo-icon insurgents in the vicinity of Sarobi District of central Kabul Province last Wednesday was rescued by American and Afghan forces during an operation on Saturday.

According to the International Security Assistance Force, Joseph was rescued in a joint operation in far off area of Sarobi district.

Gen. John R Allen, commander of US and NATOinfo-icon troops in Afghanistaninfo-icon said that today’s mission exemplifies their unwavering commitment to defeating the Taliban and he is proud of the American and Afghan forces that planned, rehearsed and successfully conducted the operation.

Allen ordered the mission after intelligence reports revealed that the victim Joseph was in imminent danger of injury or death.
