KABUL (PAN): The Integrity Watch Afghanistan (IWA) on Sunday said there is no political will to tackle corruption in the country so the public should take the initiative.

While observing the International Anti‐Corruption Day, the head of IWA, Yama Torabi, said the government has not done much to stem corruption.

He mentioned that government has taken efforts to disclose agreements related to   mining,  transparent on government’s budget and prevention of corruption, but urged more measures to be taken.

The Transparency International (TI) announced Afghanistan as the most corrupt country in the world and the main cause could be people not participating to tackle graft, he added.

The government should assist Afghan people and civil society organisations to closely monitor the ministries activities, he said while calling on the public not to bribe government officials.

He blamed all political parties for not taking stern action against corruption and the lack of political will to tackle corruption. PAJHWOK/Ataullah Khpulwok
