KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Two schools reopened in the Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province, seven years after they were closed due to security threats, an official said on Saturday.
The reopening enabled 300 students to resume their studies in Salihan and Chihil Ghor Director Sher Agha Safi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Residents and tribal elders had pledged their cooperation with the government to reopen the remaining eight closed schools in the district, he said.
A resident of Salihan village, Mohammad Afzal, said the school had been closed after the Taliban threatened them do so.
