Visiting ministers briefed on Ghor security

CHAGHCHARAN (PANinfo-icon): Three Cabinet ministers, including interior, agricultureinfo-icon and information technology, on Saturday paid a visit to central Ghorinfo-icon province.

Governor Syed Anwar Rahmati briefed the ministers ---Ghulam Mujtaba Patang, Mohammad Asif Rahimi and Amirzai Sangin --- on the security situation in the province, saying it had deteriorated due to the presence of armed insurgents. He said the Talibaninfo-icon held sway in five districts, where 146 illegal armed groups existed.

He urged the interior minister to increase the number of police in Ghor which borders two volatile provinces -- Helmand and Farah. He said the province had long been a favourite route for drug smugglers to reach southern Afghanistaninfo-icon from the north.
