UNAMA denounces attacks in Pakistan

KABUL’s southwestern Balochistan province and the Swat Valley of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

At least 125 people and 150 more injured in the attacks, with the extremist Sunni group Lashkari Jhangavi claiming responsibility for the overnight explosions in Quetta, where a strike was observed today.

“UNAMA condemns in the strongest terms the multiple attacks yesterday in Quetta and the Swat Valley that have reportedly killed at least 125 people and injured 150 more,” the UN mission said in a statement.

UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ján Kubiš, slammed indiscriminate acts of violence and terrorism against civilians as totally unacceptable, wherever they occurred. “These heinous acts cannot be justified by any cause.”

He offered his heartfelt sympathies to the people and government of Pakistan, and his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
