JALALABAD (PANinfo-icon): About 4,000 litres smuggled acids were seized by Customs officials in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.

Twenty barrels of acid, used in manufacturing drugs, were seized from a mini-truck, Customs Director Ehsanullah Kamawal told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Imported from Korea, the acid reached the province after custom clearance from western Herat, southern Kandahar and central Kabulinfo-icon provinces, he said.

Millions of dollars were offered in bribery for the contraband’s clearance, claimed the director. The owner and driver of the vehicle managed to escape.
