JALALABAD (PAN): Seven militants were killed and four others wounded during a clash with security forces in the Kamdesh district of eastern Nuristan province, an official said on Sunday.
The firefight that erupted on Saturday continued till late night, provincial police chief, Col. Ghulam Rasul Nuristani, told Pajhwok Afghan New. He said the insurgents’ bodies and weapons were still lying at the scene.
Local resident Sultan Mir said two civilians were also wounded in the incident. He had no further details.
In another separate incident, militants traded fire with Afghan soldiers in the Batikot district of neighbouring Nangarhar province, said a spokesman for the 201 Selab Corps, Col. Noman Hatifi.
The insurgents attacked a patrol of the Afghan National Army (ANA) in Third Farm area of Batikot on Saturday night. In retaliatory fire from the soldiers, the spokesman said, three fighters were killed and a fourth wounded.
In the clash, lasting about two hours, a soldier also wounded. One civilian was also wounded, said the district chief, Mirza Mohammad Nusrat.
