JALALABAD (PAN): A five-member insurgent group joined the government-initiated peace drive in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.

The group had been active against government and foreign forces in Achin district, High Peace Council Secretary Malik Nazir Baba told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Former rebel commanders helped convince the individuals to shun the insurgency, he said.
