KABULinfo-icon (PAN): An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldier died in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in southern Afghanistaninfo-icon on Wednesday, the alliance said on Thursday.

The service-member’s death was announced in a brief statement from the NATOinfo-icon-led force that neither revealed the victim’s nationality nor the exact location of the IED assault. But mostly, US, British and Canadian troops are stationed in the Talibaninfo-icon’s southern heartland.

According to the website http://icasualties.org/, which tracks coalition casualties in Afghanistan and Iraq, so far five NATO soldiers, including one American and two British, have been killed in Afghanistan this year. Last year, 405 foreign troops were killed in the country.
