MAIMANA (PAN): A woman and her two children were found dead in the Pashtunkot district of northern Faryab province on Sunday, officials said.

The bodies were recovered from a swimming pool in Khan Aqa village, the district chief, Syed Luqman Gahrik, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the 30-year-old woman, whose husband went to Iran for work three years ago, purchased cloth on credit from the district bazaar and sold it in the village.

Often taunted by relatives, she recently came under pressure from lenders to repay their loans, the district chief said, believing the women might have committed suicide.

Ahmad Jawed Baidar, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the authorities had found the corpses of the woman, her son and daughter. He said the district chief had been directed to probe the case.

Gahrik said that four people, including the victim’s father-in-law, had been summoned for investigations.
