KABUL facilitator was detained during a joint operation by Afghan and coalition forces in the Sabari district of southeastern Khost province on Thursday, the alliance said.
Blamed for purchasing and selling weapons to support the insurgency, the detainee allegedly coordinated the movement of improvised explosive device materials and ammunition to fighters in the district.
A statement from the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said two other suspected militants were also detained and multiple firearms seized as a result of the operation.
Elsewhere in the south, a Taliban facilitator — who coordinated the movement of weapons and ammunitions and offered financial support for improvised explosive devices — was arrested in the Panjwai district of Kandahar province.
“Afghan and coalition security forces killed two insurgents during a security operation in search of an al-Qaeda associated Taliban leader in Ghaziabad district of Kunar province. The leader organises attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and enables insurgent movements throughout the province.”
