KABUL)): An Afghan cricket club called ‘Kunduz-Kabul Eagles’ on Friday beat Rawalpindi cricket team in the Desert Premier League (DPL) in the UAE, officials said.
The twenty-20 event started on Friday among 32 teams from Pakistan, Sari Lanka, India, Bangladesh, the hosts, and Kuwait in the Sharja city of UAE.
The 20-over game reduced to 12 overs due to the rain in the city. The Rawalpindi team won the toss and elected to bawl first, the spokesman of Afghanistan Cricket Board, Farid Hotak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Kunduz-Kabul Eagles scored 117 runs when Mirwais Zazai scored 53 runs and Abdullah got 22 runs in inning, he added.
In response, Pakistani team could not achieve the target of 118 runs but grabbed only 82 runs, he added.
Afghan players, Mahmud Shinwarai got three wickets, Nawab two wickets and each of Qadar and Zarjan got one wicket, he added.
The Afghanistan team would play tomorrow against Matar CC team of UAE, he added.
