KABUL): Thailand’s Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kandahar University (KU) in Bangkok on broadening their partnership, the institute said.

Signing the MoU with KU Chancellor Prof. Hazrat Mir Totakhil, AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust said his institute wanted to continue helping Afghanistan, a statement from AIT said.

The four-year MoU will enable cooperation between AIT and KU, providing for human resource development, curriculum enhancement, strengthening research capability and other partnership programmes.

Seven Kandahar University students are currently enrolled in graduation programmes at AIT, and another eight are studying at undergraduate levels. “Eventually at total of 15 students will graduate from AIT,” Irandoust said. “All will return to assist the country’s development.”
