ASADABAD (PAN): Two commanders were among seven militants detained during a joint operation by Afghan and coalition forces in the eastern province of Kunar, officials said on Monday.
The operation was conducted by Afghan and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in the mountainous area of Badil in Narang district, the police spokesman, Sher Wali, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Rebel commanders Farhad and Wakil were among the detainees, he said.
But a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said that three foreign and two Afghan soldiers were killed in a clash during the operation. He denied any casualties were inflicted on fighters.
