KABUL): The Ministry of Commerce and Industries on Monday fixed the rate of liquefied gas at 50 afghanis per kilogram in capital Kabul, where the current price ranges between 55 and 70 afs.

Eng. Faridullah Sherzai, the petroleum department head at the ministry, said the rate was agreed at a meeting with representatives of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) and gas importers.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the decision had to be enforced by state and private shops, with the ministry monitoring the decision’s implementation.

The liquefied gas is chiefly imported from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Fuel importers had agreed to sell a kg of liquefied gas for 41 afs to wholesalers, he said, warning the sellers would be dealt with seriously if they failed to abide by the decision.
