KABUL official and three rebels were killed and three others injured in separate incidents of violence in different parts of the country, officials said on Wednesday.
In eastern Nangarhar province, two fighters were killed and nine others detained during a joint operation by Afghan and foreign troops in Khogyani district, a police spokesman said.
Maj. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News the overnight offensive in Kaligho village led to the seizure of weapons and ammunitions.

Also in Nangarhar, an employee of the education department for Nazyan district was shot dead by unidentified gunmen, said the department’s spokesman, Mohammad Asif Shinwari.
Painda Mohammad was gunned down on the way to his office at around 9:30 am in the Amber Khana area of Batikot district.
A Taliban Najmuddin, was killed in northern Jawzjan province, police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Aziz Ghairat said. Three other rebels were injured in the operation in the Tash Abkhor village of Qushtipa district.
In northern Kunduz province, an Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban leader in the Khanabad district, the alliance said in a statement. The detainee was directly involved in planning and executing IED attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
The security force detained two other suspected insurgents and seized several firearms as a result of the operation.
