KABUL parliament to undergo a short-term training session in parliamentary procedures and practices in the first week of February, the deputy senate chairman said on Thursday.

Eighty of the senators would travel first to India in order the remaining colleagues could keep the house business going, Mohammad Alam Ezedyar told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The four-day training, beginning from February 4, would provide both sides with an opportunity to share their experiences and have detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest, he said.

Ezedyar hoped the visit would result into improved relationship and contacts between lawmakers of the two countries.

“We will also learn how the Indian senate is regarded in their society and what role it is playing for their wellbeing,” he said.

The invitation comes after India hosted a parliamentary delegation from Afghanistan.

The parliament building, being built with Indian assistance, is slated for completion this year-end.
