KABUL): Heavy snow trapped more than 100 people on a pass in the Behsud district of central Maidan Wardak province on Sunday, one of the stranded individuals phoned Pajhwok Afghan News.
The caller, who identified himself as Javid, giving witness account, said 10 passenger vans with more than a hundred people onboard were trapped on the Moshkai Pass on their way from central Bamyan province to Kabul.
Javid said those trapped since early morning included elderly people, children and women. “They are fighting a bitter weather front that can claim their lives,” he said, calling for an immediate government’s response to rescue them.
Behsud district chief Jan Aqa Mahsil said a convoy of six vehicles carrying rescuers had been dispatched to the site. The convey would reach the pass through the Mullah Yaqub Pass to rescue those trapped. The now-clearing firm had been informed to clear the route as soon as possible, he said.
