KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): Six insurgents and two policemen were killed in separate security incidents in the northern province of Kunduz, officials said on Thursday.
Four militants were killed during an overnight operation by Afghan security personnel and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Khwaja Ghaltan area on the outskirts of Kunduz City.
Police spokesman, Syed Sarwar Hussaini, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a local Taliban Abdul Wali, was among those killed during the operation. Another three fighters were detained.
Two Quick Reaction Force members were also killed and an ISAF soldier injured in the operation, he added.
According to the NATO-led force, six insurgents were detained. But a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed the security personnel had killed four civilians and arrested a fifth.
Separately, two more rebels, including a Taliban leader, Abdul Qahar, were killed as a result of a drone strike in the Qala-i-Zal district, a statement from ISAF said.
However, Mujahid said the two people had no links with Taliban.
