GHAZNI CITY (PANinfo-icon): A woman and her two children were recovered frozen to death after being buried under snow on their way to a healthinfo-icon clinic in the Malistan district of southern Ghazni province, a public representative said on Thursday.

Provincial council member Abdul Wali Khanzada said the victims belonged to the Langarkhel area of Ajristan district. They had come to Malistan for medical treatment, he added.

Ajristan resident Khair Mohammad said another four people had died in the town due to bitterly cold weather.

Khanzada said that a 12-year-old boy died of extreme cold in Zana Khan district. Roads leading to Zana Khan, Giru, Rashidan, Ajristan, Malistan, Nawa and Nawar districts have been closed by snowfall.

Separately, one person was killed and another wounded by snow avalanches that hit the Salang highway in central Parwan province, the Salang district chief, Mohammad Saber Ahmadi, said.

Two maintenance officials were found frozen to death on Wednesday afternoon after they were buried by a heavy slide in the northern part of the Russian-built tunnel.
