JALALABAD (PAN) airstrike in the Ghaziabad district of eastern Kunar province on Saturday, an official said.
The incident took place in Dariz area, Kunar Governor Syed Fazlullah Wahidi, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He did not provide further details of the air raid.
But a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, denied the commanders’ deaths, saying two fighters were killed and four wounded. Civilians had also suffered causalities, he alleged.
In a separate incident, five insurgents including a would-be suicide bomber were captured on the outskirts of Ghanikhel district centre, border police spokesman Idrees Momand said.
Five Kalashnikovs, one rocket-propelled grenade, two pistols and a large number of hand grenades were seized from the rebels, who planned to conduct attack in Jalalabad, Momand said.
He identified the group leader as Muqtadarul Hassan, saying that a 12-years-old suicide bomber from the Kohat city of Pakistan was among the detainees.
